From the 31st August to 3rd September Rachel attended an IFLA Satellite conference in Palermo, Sicily, along with members of Gandia Public Library.  Rachel was there as the English representative of the Multicultural Committee of Gandia Public Library Network and acted as interpreter to the Coordinator of the Committee, Gisela Sendra, translating during the conference.  On the second day of the conference Rachel gave Gisela's presentation in English on the work that Gandia Public Library has been doing since 2003 to attract and provide better services for foreign residents at the library and to include them and encourage their participation in activities and events at the library and in the town in general.  It was very interesting to meet librarians from other countries such as Eygpt, Tunisia, Greece, Italy, the USA, Norway, Sweden and Denmark and to hear about the services they provide for foreign residents.
